Due to continued development within our Finance Office, we are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our busy and supportive Exchequer team.

About the Role

As part of a high-volume Accounts Payable function, you will play a key role in ensuring that supplier invoices and payments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with University Financial Regulations.

Working in a fast-paced environment processing over 2,000 documents per week, you will:

  • Process supplier invoices and maintain accurate financial records within the finance system
  • Ensure invoices meet required legal and VAT standards and are correctly authorised and coded
  • Assist with the preparation of payment runs and remittance advice
  • Maintain supplier data, including bank details and VAT information
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries in a timely manner
  • Monitor invoice registers and ensure timely posting and processing
  • Support compliance with financial procedures and contribute to fraud prevention and control
  • Work closely with colleagues across the University to resolve queries and provide a high level of customer service

You will also have the opportunity to support wider Exchequer activities, including Credit Control and Payroll, and contribute to process improvements within the team.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.

You will:

  • Have experience in a finance or administrative role, ideally within accounts payable or a similar function
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with financial data
  • Be confident using finance systems and spreadsheets
  • Have a good understanding of invoice processing, VAT basics, and financial procedures
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Be able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

AAT study or a desire to progress within a finance career would be advantageous.
