Payroll Officer

We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Payroll Officer to join the Finance team, supporting the Payroll Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day management and processing of our three Payrolls.

The role plays a key part in delivering a high-quality solution focused payroll service to the University, its associated companies’ employees and pensioners. This includes ensuring compliance with all statutory legislation and process improvement initiatives. Reviewing and suggesting improvements to payroll policies and procedures where required.  

You will also contribute to monitoring the accurate processing of all stages of the employee pay cycle, ensuring that the team provides a responsive, professional and friendly service.  

Working closely with Human Resources, Finance and Managers in developing and maintaining strong relationships with them and all key stakeholders. 

Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a CIPP Payroll Management qualification or have equivalent experience or an alternative professional qualification. 

You will have expert user knowledge of HR payroll systems preferably iTrent and the requisite IT skills. Knowledge of Local Government (GMPF) and Academic (TPA) Pension schemes is an advantage. 

Experience of working in a Higher Education (or another complex/public sector environment) is desirable.
