An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dental Technician to join the Queen’s Dental Sciences Centre and lead our newly built Placement Dental Laboratory. The laboratory will support a broad range of dental technology activities, including fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics, orthodontics and digital dental technology workflows. The role therefore provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced dental technician / laboratory manager to bring their industry expertise into a developing environment whilst remaining involved in the manufacture of real-life patient cases.
The key duties of the post holder will be to lead, manage and support the work of the Placement Dental Laboratory, overseeing patient cases and mentoring undergraduate Dental Technology students during their placement. A major part of the role will involve professional and technical expertise to sign-off dental appliances, ensuring that work is of the appropriate standard before being returned to the clinic.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Laboratory Dental Technologists / Placement Mentors and will contribute to the ongoing development of laboratory workflows and standards. Responsibilities will also include oversight of laboratory materials and implementation of Health and Safety protocols.
Professional Membership/Registration with the GDC is an essential requirement for this role, alongside substantial relevant experience within Dental Technology in managerial roles.
